On our Guided group walks customised to your interests, you
will not only discover the historical significance and beauty of Waikumete
cemetery, you will journey into the past to learn about some of the cemetery’s
residents. From well known identities, history makers, pioneers and valiant
servicemen to ordinary citizens who have extraordinary tales to be told about
their lives and their deaths. Sharing these stories keep their memories and our
history alive.
Walks are approximately 2 hours in duration and are best
undertaken between November and April during the morning, afternoon or evening
on week days or weekends. Talk to us about a time that suits your group. Bookings are essential 3 weeks in advance.
Participants are advised to bring a drink and dress for the
weather with suitable sun or rain protection and wear sturdy footwear as there
is uneven terrain in the cemetery.
The cost is $5 per person. Funds raised go towards heritage
grave preservation.
A minimum group size of 5 people is required. The maximum
group size is 20 people. Gather your friends and family or colleagues together
